GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATION AND SELECTION INTO THE TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION HALL OF HONOR (THSBOA HOH)
NOMINATION PROCESS
A completed nomination form shall be submitted to the THSBOA HOH Selection Committee starting February 14th using the online submission form located on the THSBOA website. All nominees with completed nomination forms are added to the official list of nominees and presented to the Selection Committee for review.
NOMINATION PERIOD
The nomination period is February 14, 2024 through March 13, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY:
Candidates shall be individuals having outstanding moral character, ethical conduct and be in good standing with the THSBOA. All nominees must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for Enshrinement into the Texas High School Basketball Officials Association Hall of Honor:
Official: A referee must be fully retired for three full seasons and have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of service or, if still an active official, have been an active referee for a minimum of 25 years. That person will then be considered for Enshrinement in the fourth year of retirement or 26th year of officiating.
Contributor: A person is eligible for Enshrinement as a contributor at any time for significant contributions to Texas high school basketball officiating. What constitutes a “significant contribution” shall be determined by the THSBOA HOH, its Selection Process Committee, and the Executive Director.
SELECTION COMMITTEE
This Committee will review and select individual nominees (Finalists) to be voted upon for Enshrinement. The Committee consists of five voting members as appointed by the THSBOA Executive Director. Appointees to the committee may be officials, THSBOA Board members or current Hall of Honor members. The committee should have representation from all areas of the state. All appointees to the committee will be presented to the Executive Committee for confirmation.
The Selection Committee may put forth a maximum number of five (5) Finalists to the HOH. Additional inductees may be considered in extraordinary circumstances, at the discretion of the THSBOA Board and HOH Selection committee.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTION COMMITTEE
The committee will carefully review the selected Finalist’s officiating record before casting a vote in favor of or against Enshrining the Finalist in the HOH.
HALL OF HONOR INDUCTION CEREMONY
The annual induction ceremony will be held during the THSBOA Board spring meeting on April 27th in Grapevine, TX.
