How The THSBOA Works
The Texas High School Basketball Officials Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping member chapters provide the best training and education to our members to provide excellent basketball officials for the student-athletes of Texas. Each of the 29 member chapters is represented on the Board of Directors and provides a direct link from the organization to the individual members of the local chapters.
All THSBOA Board members are “volunteers” and receive no compensation for their roles as leaders of the association. The strength of our association is the local chapter. The role of the THSBOA is to provide leadership, education, and support to the local chapters so that their members may become the best basketball officials possible.
The THSBOA consists of an Executive Committee of six members. This committee is led by the Executive Chairman, the Vice-Chair, and four committee members. This group is made up of the respective chairs of the five functioning committees of the board— Appropriations and Oversight, Chapter, Rules and Policy, Education, and Recruitment and Ethics. Every member of the THSBOA Board serves on one of these working committees.
The UIL and the THSBOA will work together with the schools and coaches to provide the best education possible for students through athletics. The THSBOA also works with Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) to provide quality officiating for all students of Texas.
